“I want to lose fat on my belly but not on my boobs”, “I want to get rid of my love handles”, “I want to build more muscle in my arms and back” – typical requests from PT clients. Mainstream science says that you cannot lose fat in the places you want. Aside from your nutrition, activity and gender (some would say race too but I include that in your genetic footprint), the body has a pattern, a map, determined by your genes, where you are more likely to deposit fat tissue and store water, and places where you are more predominant to ‘build’ muscle. Now, the purpose of this article is to go beyond this basic piece of 3D knowledge 🙂 We are constantly moving, changing, evolving, a fact determined by how we react to our surroundings and events through our emotions and feelings. It is possible to be born with a tendency to store fat on your thighs and override that pattern in your 50s through a change in your behaviours, thoughts, reactions and habits. All food is drugs. Anything that you can possibly put into your body is a drug. When you eat, you aren’t really nourishing yourself in the way you think, you are actually feeding the bacteria in your gut. The more toxic your gut is, the more you ‘crave’ food, usually the most toxic foods, it’s not ‘you’ who is hungry, it’s your bacteria wanting to be fed. As you start eating healthier, or fasting, you accustom the bad bacteria to no food, and to eventually die, leaving you clean and without cravings or the unnecessary need to eat.
There’s evil in the world.
I’m not just referring to those in the shadows,
manipulating the threads of the world.
There’s evil in the world.
Those lacking in light
preying on those with plenty of it.
Amongst people like you and me.
Just for pleasure
unjustified, unfair, machiavellic
and meticulously engineered
to demolish all the pieces that
get in their way.
Not content with damaging
those with light,
they also devise plots
to turn their acquaintances, loved ones,
colleagues, friends and everyone
So that they make sure
that those with light
can never overshadow
their fake delusional power
with their blinding light.
But beware those of you in the dark.
For light is light,
and in its quiet splendour
Eating frozen food is a cheap option. But it’s dead energy. The quality of a material substance depends in its totality on the energy behind it. Pretty much the same as the quality of a person: a sculpted body without a heart or a soul is not beautiful, what is more, it’s ill and unhealthy. So why eat unhealthy food? only because it’s cheap? LOL! There are cheap people too! it doesn’t mean we bring them into our lives – unless we want to hang around in their miserable sub-worlds, that is. If you want to eat cheap because you can’t afford more, buy at the market, buy the ‘sale’ or ‘clearance’ foods that are reduced in price at the end of the day, or buy fresh and freeze them yourself.
As a trainer, with my humble sports nutrition knowledge and experience I have designed a good number of Nutrition Plans for my clients, all of them with different food intolerances, allergies, preferences and tastes. In most cases, for fat loss/body toning, the rules are to increase protein and green vegetables’ intake and reduce fat amounts and unnecessary calories from ‘nutritionally empty foods’ (which may be rich in micronutrients and water but not macros, such as celery, lettuce, mushrooms, bone broth, etc). Now, is this optimal and adequate for every individual? the answer is no.
There is one curious piece of information that has stayed with me from my years as a singing student. Such thing is this: “Your tongue is the biggest obstacle to Singing, yet it is one of the most powerful muscles in your body”. And no wonder, as the tongue is highly responsible for holding our head upright, forming all the subtleties of our language, and helping digest our food. The tongue (the tongue is actually a group of 8 muscles), together with the diaphragm and the larynx (what a coincidence, the main Singing muscles!) are the only skeletal muscles that can function independently from the skeleton, that means you can move them without moving your ‘frame’, without being noticed.
